Thousands of people from all over Greece participated and contributed to make wishes of children from "The Smile of the Child" organization come true
OPAP's Wishing Ornaments, the action that started 10 years ago and has become a tradition, brought to life the wishes of thousands of children in need last Christmas. For yet another year, thousands of people from all over Greece embraced OPAP's initiative and contributed to making Christmas wishes of 10,000 children from the "The Smile of the Child" Organization come true.
The gifts were given to the children at a special festive event, which took place on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024.
Panos Gavriil, OPAP Corporate Communications & Corporate Responsibility Director stated: "We would like to thank all our fellow citizens who participated in this initiative. Thanks to their touching response, 10,000 wishes of Children from “The Smile of the Child" Organization were fulfilled. At the same time, we are implementing improvement projects at the organization’s facilities, in order to support its work."
Kostas Giannopoulos, President of "The Smile of the Child" Organization stated: "We would like to thank OPAP for this amazing effort that has been putting on for the last 10 years, giving smiles to the children through the “Wishing Ornaments”. These are children who face health problems, are hosted in organizations, or live with their families and are in great need. These gifts give them immense joy."
Helping children in need since 2014
OPAP, faithful to its vision to create a better tomorrow for the younger generation, implemented the “Wishing Ornaments” for the first time in 2014. Since the beginning of the initiative, a total of 61,951 children's wishes have been fulfilled.
At the same time, OPAP has implemented 49 support projects to the organizations that participated in the “Wishing Ornaments” in previous years, with the aim of substantially improving children’s quality of life. Currently, a project is in progress at the premises of the Organization "The Smile of the Child", in Koropi.
