State-of-the-art Infectious Diseases Unit
OPAP has completed one more important part of its work in pediatric hospitals “Aghia Sofia” and “Panagioti & Aglaias Kyriakou”, by fully renovating and modernizing the 2nd Pediatric Nursing Unit of the latter. The new works were delivered just nine months after the inauguration of the two fully renovated floors of the two hospitals.
The fully renovated 2nd Pediatric Nursing Unit of the 1st floor (Wing A) of the hospital, of a total surface area of 550 square meters and with a capacity of 20 beds, became operational a few days ago to serve the needs of the little patients. An important innovation of the new works is the modernization of the Infectious Diseases Unit, with a capacity of four rooms.
OPAP’s CEO, Damian Cope, and the company's Chief Customer Officer, Petr Matejovsky, were present for the delivery of the project at “Panagioti & Aglaias Kyriakou” hospital.
Mr. Cope stated: “Yet another important project has been completed, with the delivery of the nursing unit to children's hospital ‘Panagioti & Aglaias Kyriakou’. The renovation of the two largest pediatric hospitals constitutes OPAP's longterm initiative. Our goal is to support young people, the most valuable asset for the future and the growth of this country. Until this day, we have renovated more than 48% of the two hospitals, offering a better environment to 150,000 children and their parents, as well as to the medical and nursing staff. We are very proud of our achievements, but our work does not end here. Our ambitious project continues”.
The Chief of the interconnected pediatric hospitals, Emmanouil Papasavvas, stressed: “The renovation of the hospitals, based on modern specifications, provides our little patients with the possibility to enjoy medical and treatment services of the highest level in a more than pleasant and functional environment”.
The new face of the Unit
The works carried out in the 2nd Pediatric Nursing Unit of hospital “Panagioti & Aglaias Kyriakou” include the full modernization of electromechanical installations and the procurement of the necessary office and hotel equipment. As to the Infectious Diseases Unit, the four beds are of negative pressure, based on international standards, and with automatic systems, thus preventing the airborne transmission of serious infectious diseases.
Furthermore, extensive color and decorative interventions have been made, thus creating a pleasant treatment environment for the little patients, full of colors and imagination.
OPAP, within the context of its CSR program, has renovated up to this point 48% of the two pediatric hospitals, “Aghia Sofia” and “Panagioti & Aglaias Kyriakou”. In total, 20 renovation works have been delivered, among which are 14 nursing units of a total surface area of 8,030 square meters, with a capacity of 300 beds.
